Insightful Touch

Andrea Kennedy, LMP

About

Andrea Kennedy, LMT has an extensive background in massage and a vast knowledge in many other healing arts.  Andrea's formal training began in 1998 at Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle, WA.  There her love and deep need for helping people was cultivated and nourished into a crafted art of body work. While in massage school, Andrea was introduced to pregnancy massage. As she had a nephew soon to be born, Andrea wanted to learn everything possible to do with birth. She attended Seattle Midwifery School in the spring of 1999, to become a Birth Doula. Upon graduating massage school in August 1999, she moved to Spokane to be closer to her newborn nephew and to open a private practice, devoted to offering massage to her new community.  These early years of massaging at 205 W. Indiana Ave allowed her to become a skilled body worker with a tailored commitment to each individual’s mind body soul. Because of her compassion, experience and intuition, she gained a solid and loyal client base, many of whom are still seeing her regularly, 22 years later. Her passion for working with all people has afforded her the opportunity to treat everyone from infants to the elderly.

In 2005, Andrea relocated her practice downtown and joined The Main Touch Wellness Center. During this time, she married and was blessed with her own amazing home birth experience with her first daughter. In 2008, to better focus on her growing family, Andrea shifted her practice to a beautiful space in her private residence where she felt more capable to serve her new family, and her patients as well.  After the home waterbirth of her second daughter in 2009, Andrea continued working part time and was thankful to have a clientele she trusted to have in her home during this vulnerable time.

Beginning in 2011, Andrea began teaching Anatomy & Physiology at the American Institute for Clinical Massage in Post Falls, ID.  In 2012, Andrea was asked to design the curriculum and teach the Medical Massage program for AiCM. She also taught A/P, Kinesiology, Business, Insurance Billing, Ethics, and SOAP Charting. Teaching the next generation of massage therapists changed Andrea’s practice for the better. It not only gave her a deeper knowledge of anatomy & physiology, but really pushed her to ask and answer the hard questions of how we heal - and why we sometimes don’t. In educating others, Andrea found another one of her deep authentic callings - teaching. In addition to teaching massage therapy students, Andrea designed a set of Continuing Education classes for currently licensed massage therapists. She was certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a CEU provider in 2018.

In 2019 Andrea became a Usui/Holy Fire®️ III and Karuna Reiki ®️ Master. She has been using Reiki for 22 years and is excited to share this amazing healing modality with you. For more info about Reiki, click on the Reiki tab. Andrea also teaches Reiki classes online and in person in Spokane, WA.

January 2020 saw Andrea take the leap to become a Registered Yoga Teacher. She completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training through Harmony Yoga in July 2020. This training enabled Andrea to be able to offer her clients more ways to heal themselves. Yoga and bodywork pair nicely. Chronic pain can often be influenced in a positive manner with stretching.

In her life, Andrea walks her talk. She makes self-care a priority.  Meditation, massage, journaling, breath work, walking and yoga are important ways Andrea cares for herself. Deep connection to her inner authenticity keeps her joy-filled and able to access radiance. This year, marks 22 years that Andrea has been serving her community with her gifts. She would love to help you find your connection back to yourself.
